The employer reimburses the employee for part or all of the dental costs.

An Indemnity Plan pays the dentist using a traditional fee-for-service basis. A monthly premium is paid by an employee and/or his employer to an insurance company. The insurance company then reimburses the dentist for his services. An insurance company may pay between 50% - 80% of the dental fees for covered dental procedures with the remaining amount paid by the insured individual.

Enrollees have access to thousands of dental providers who have agreed to offer special rates to dental plan participants.
